At least when i made the boot from the 'net' not from the 'flash' he was looking for a TFTP server i had aslo attached the picture, and the ip what is set for the TFTP server actually are allocated for firewalls (we are using the xxx.xxxx.xxx.254 for firewall). But as i told it before this switch was used in the past and noone know at the moment in the company the credentials. Thanks With default username and password, I don't know if what i posted was correct, but I was suggesting you check online.
As far as resetting it, I don't know if you looked online for a reset process. We have Dell switch here that does not have a reset button but a button combination while powering it on will reset it to factory defaults. Then again we have some print servers here that we don't know username/password for and after spending a lot of time searching, I only came to the conclusion there is no factory rest available for them. I even called the manufacturer and was told the print servers are so old tech support couldn't even help me. It's a shame because they are in good shape still.
At the moment i received 2 post from the support of Netgear: 1. Push reset button and hold down 30 sec, unplug the power cord while still holding the reset switch and switch it back still holding the reset switch for 30 seconds - Not working, and i had mentioned that i am able to connect to the console but also there is needed the credentionals 2.
Entering int the console with terminal while booting the switch press ESC and there is the possibility to reset the settings - Not working it is possible to interrupt the boot of the switch but i got 2 possibilities run settings from the flash or from the net I am waiting for further info. All switches that have a reset button can be factory reset. Just press and hold the reset button for 30-60 seconds. Forget powering down the unit, just hold the reset. It will reset, especially Netgear units. This goes for routers as well.
ErvinB wrote: Hello, i need to use a hyperterminal on my notebook to connect to a netgear switch console, as i know hyperterminal is not anymore part of the windows 7, i am interested if someone used before a terminal application to connect to devices on windows 7, the other issue that i don't got anymore a serial port on my notebook, but i got a USB-RS232 adapter what i had already used with other devices and it was working, i think it should work also with the switch. Thanks This reset switch it is not for the factory reset. I had solved my issue, but i can say it was the google what helped me and not the Netgear support staff. And here is the solution.
HI, First check whether your PC has a serial port or not. If not then you have to use an USB to RS232 converter cable.
Install the driver from the cd of USB-2-RS232 converter into your PC. It’s provide a virtual serial port to use. Now connect RS232 part to your device and USB part to your PC. Power up the weight machine and open a hyper-terminal or any other serial port utility or software provided by the machine vendor and start the communication.
Configure serial port properties according the user manual of your weight machine. To know about serial port settings read the full post. Hope it’ll help you. Have a nice day!!!
